Have Fun With Outdoor Entertaining
Summertime begs us to come outside and sit for a while. Entertaining outdoors is a great way to bring your friends and family together. When you invite people over for some hospitality and good eats, you raise your stock with your social circle. You can really slow down and enjoy the company of your friends and loved ones. Dust off your grill and check out the hints below. Get started entertaining outdoors and get your summer on.
Step 1: Clean up your outdoor entertaining space. Make sure your grass is freshly cut. Have a patio? Get it cleaned off. Clean up the patio furniture.
Step 2: Make alternate plans in case of bad weather.
Step 3: Send out invitations. You can mail them, email them, use evites, or call your guests. Give them at least a week's notice, but two might be better.
Step 4: Plan your menu.
Step 5: Put out two trash cans. One for trash and one for recycling.
Step 6: Arrange colors, large red wagons or even aluminum tubs to put ice and drinks in. You can put them altogether or separate drinks by type and put them in different spots around the yard. Ice water should be set out in various containers around the yard.
Step 7: Get out the grill and designate a grilling space. Get your utensils and serving pieces by the grill. Use a different platter for the cooked meat than for the raw meat.
Step 8: Arrange your folding chairs, benches, and other seating options. Bring out pillows for comfort and additional seating.
Step 9: Arrange a buffet table for the food. Put napkins and paper plates out. You may want to use stones or shells to weigh them down so they don't blow away. You can put forks and knives in a napkin, wrap them and tie them. Put them at the very end of the table so guests can grab them before heading to their seats.
Step 10: Have a nice basket filled with insect repellent. Include sunscreen if the hour of the event necessitates it.
Step 11: Put out your iPod loaded with your favorite hits. Put out wireless speakers.
Step 12: Have fun!
Note: if you are hosting a pool party, then you have a lifeguard or adult supervision if there will be children attending. You also need rafts and pool games or toys on hand as well.
